Reclaiming Paint at the Birch Bay Hostel

Exciting Transformation at Our Hostel!

Hey everyone! I’m thrilled to share some fantastic news. We are celebrating the completion, giving the hostel new life. It has a fresh coat of paint inside and out The results have been nothing short of remarkable! We’ve applied over 80 gallons of paint. All thanks to the amazing volunteers who rolled up their sleeves to help with both the prep work and the painting.

A huge shout-out to the Whatcom Volunteer Center for connecting us with such dedicated folks. Their support has been absolutely invaluable! Thank you to the Whatcom County Fire Department for doing so much of the prep work and painting the halls. Thank you to the Western Washington University students for the hours of cleaning!

The paint was reclaimed from the Disposal of Toxics Facility at 3505 Airport Drive in Bellingham. How cool is that? Plus, we received a generous donation of outdoor paint from Steve Allmann. It was expertly tinted with the help of Sherwin Williams and Pacific Building Supply.

We’ve decided to call this unique color “Copper Patina." It adds a one-of-a-kind charm to our space.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to making our hostel a brighter and more inviting place! We couldn’t have done it without you!
